[Financial News] Bae, Kim & Lee (BKL) has strengthened its advisory capabilities in corporate regulation and finance by bringing on Kim Jong-ho, former chairman of Korea Technology Finance (KOTEC), as an advisor.
BKL said on the 6th that Advisor Kim will join its Regulatory Group and provide advisory services in corporate regulation and finance, public institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies, emerging industries, audits, and GR (Government Relations).
Kim entered public service after passing the 37th national civil service examination. Over the next 30 years, he gained broad experience in policymaking, regulatory enforcement, and the operation of public institutions in the government and public sector, establishing himself as a policy and regulatory expert.
After working at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, he joined BAI in 1998 and served as director of Division 1 at the Financial and Economic Audit Bureau, head of the Education Audit Team, head of the Local Construction Audit Team, chief secretary, and director general of the Public Institutions Audit Bureau. In 2017, he became secretary for public service discipline at the Office of the President, and from 2018 to 2020, he served as secretary-general of BAI. He later served as senior secretary for civil affairs at the Office of the President before becoming chairman of KOTEC.
In particular, after spending more than 20 years at BAI reviewing fiscal and economic policies and the operation of public institutions, Kim handled public service discipline and key national affairs at the Office of the President. Through these roles, he gained comprehensive experience in how policies are formulated and implemented in practice.
During his tenure as chairman of KOTEC, Kim expanded his professional focus to the corporate sector. He directly addressed the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies, as well as policy finance, by pursuing expanded guarantee support, promoting scale-up support for future emerging industries, and developing products related to intellectual property valuation.
BKL expects Kim's experience to be a strength in helping companies respond to the complex regulatory environment they currently face. The firm noted that he has a broad understanding that extends beyond legal interpretation to the formation and implementation of government policies, the operation of public institutions, policy finance, and the corporate sector.
Working primarily with BKL's Regulatory Group, Kim will also participate in the Regulatory Response Solutions Center and the GR Solutions Group. He is expected to help companies respond to policy and regulatory changes and provide advice on government relations and public-sector matters.
Woo Byung-ryeol, head of BKL's Regulatory Group, said, "Advisor Kim Jong-ho is an expert who has not only accumulated extensive public service experience but also gained first-hand experience in the corporate and policy finance sectors by directly leading KOTEC. We expect him to play a major role in analyzing more comprehensively how policy and regulatory changes affect companies and proposing effective response measures."
