[Financial News] NKGen Biotech Korea is expanding its consumer reach in the health functional food business. The company is accelerating the expansion of its health functional food operations after selling out the initial batch of a product that combines gut health and body fat management and moving on to additional production.
According to NKGen Biotech Korea on the 6th, more than 200,000 capsules of NK365's 'SlimBy365 Probiotics and Diet' sold out approximately six months after its launch. The company has completed additional production and begun selling the second batch.
SlimBy365 is a multifunctional product that combines probiotics and green tea extract to target gut health and body fat management simultaneously. Each daily serving of two capsules contains 10 billion CFU of probiotics and 300 mg of catechins from green tea extract.
In particular, the product contains eight probiotic strains, six of which use patented lactic acid bacteria. It also includes three additional prebiotic ingredients: fructooligosaccharides, galactooligosaccharides and xylooligosaccharides.
Following the sellout of the initial batch, the company is also moving to diversify its sales channels. It plans to expand beyond sales centered on its official online mall by securing various distribution touchpoints and broadening the scale of its health functional food business.
An NKGen Biotech Korea representative explained, "The initial production batch sold out after the product was launched, so we proceeded with additional production. We plan to expand sales, which have been centered on our official online mall, to various distribution channels and turn that into sustained demand."
Meanwhile, observers in the bio industry believe that repeat purchases after the initial sales and the expansion of distribution channels will be key to gauging business viability, as bio companies continue to expand beyond their traditional research and development-focused operations into consumer-oriented healthcare products.
