[Financial News] Following Buldak Ramen, Samyang Foods is targeting the Japanese market with its premium ramen, Samyang 1963.
Samyang Foods said on the 6th that it held a Samyang 1963 product presentation and tasting event for local media in Akasaka, Tokyo, on the 2nd.
The event was held to introduce Samyang 1963's brand heritage and product features ahead of its official launch in Japan.
Local media representatives reportedly responded positively after sampling the product, praising its balanced spiciness, chewy noodle texture and deep broth flavor. Samyang 1963 is a premium ramen that reinterprets the heritage of Samyang Ramen, which was first introduced in Korea in 1963. It revives the beef-tallow frying method for the first time since 1989, 36 years ago, enhancing the noodles' savory flavor.
Taking the characteristics of the Japanese market into account, the product delivers a rich and full-bodied broth by adding umami derived from extracts of various ingredients, including beef, chicken, garlic and green onions.
Samyang Foods plans to officially launch Samyang 1963 in Japan this month. Following its launch in the United States in August, the company plans to accelerate its global market push by expanding the regions where it sells its products overseas.
Hong Beom-jun, head of Samyang Japan, said, "We will convey a taste and brand value distinct from Buldak to Japanese consumers and create more touchpoints with local consumers through a diverse range of products."
