[Financial News]   Kyochon F&B is stepping up its entry into the Japanese market by partnering with a Japanese distribution company, with the goal of opening its first Tokyo location next year.
According to industry sources on the 6th, Kyochon F&B signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Japanese company Arai Shosha on the 29th of last month to enter the local market.
Based on the agreement, Kyochon F&B plans to accelerate its entry into the Japanese market, targeting the opening of its first Tokyo location in the first half of 2027.
Founded in 1920, Arai Shosha has grown primarily through its auction and food distribution businesses. In 2024, it diversified into the restaurant industry by introducing a Belgian waffle specialty store.
The two companies will establish a close cooperation system in various areas, including quality control, marketing and operational training, to ensure stable business operations in Japan. They aim to consistently maintain Kyochon's distinctive taste and quality in Japan while expanding their points of contact with local consumers through workforce training and marketing collaboration.
The multi-unit franchise model will be used for the local rollout. Under this model, franchisees are granted the right to open multiple stores within a designated territory, enabling steady expansion. Starting with its first Tokyo location, Kyochon F&B plans to gradually expand into surrounding cities.
A Kyochon F&B official said, "Through this agreement, we will lay the groundwork for entering the Japanese market with Arai Shosha, a partner that understands local distribution networks and Korean food." The official added, "Based on the cooperation between the two companies, we will showcase our distinctive taste and quality in Japan and develop Japan into a new growth pillar for our global business."
