The Busan Metropolitan City Government announced on the 6th that it would hold the Citizens’ Grand Forum on Sports Policy for the ninth popularly elected administration at the Busan Sports Council Building on the afternoon of the 7th, under the slogan “Sports for Everyone, Busan as a Sports-Centered City.”
About 100 sports officials and residents selected through an open recruitment process will attend the event. They will share diverse views on Busan’s overall sports policies and discuss key issues.
The forum will begin with an expert presentation by the Busan Research Institute on “The Present and Future of Sports in Busan.” Jeon Jae-soo will then directly answer questions submitted in advance and at the event across five areas: community sports, elite sports, inclusive sports, the sports industry and sports facilities.
In addition to opinions submitted online in advance, participants can submit suggestions and requests concerning Busan’s sports policies to the “Message Wall,” which will be installed on the first floor of the Busan Sports Council Building on the day of the event.
The city government will livestream the event on its website.
Opinions raised at the forum will also be reflected in the special lecture on the “Vision for Sports Policy in Busan under the Ninth Popularly Elected Administration,” which Mayor Jeon is scheduled to present on the 12th. Mayor Jeon is expected to state his position on various local sports issues, including the reconstruction of Sajik Baseball Stadium.
“We will listen to the diverse voices of sports experts and people on the ground at this forum and develop a new vision for Busan’s sports policy that reflects the governing philosophy of the ninth popularly elected administration,” Mayor Jeon said.
