[Financial News] The Hyundai Global, Hyundai Department Store's K-content export platform, is entering Paris, France, as it steps up efforts to target the European market.
According to industry sources on the 6th, Hyundai Department Store is operating a The Hyundai Global pop-up store through the 27th local time on the third floor of the main building at the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann store in Paris.
Galeries Lafayette is a European department store chain with a 130-year history. Its Haussmann store, located in central Paris, is a flagship location that houses numerous global luxury and emerging designer brands.
The pop-up store spans approximately 79 square meters. It showcases products from five Korean fashion brands, including designer brand KIMHEKIM, as well as RE RHEE, LIE, FRITUR and THE ILMA. Located next to the escalator entrance, it is designed to improve customer accessibility.
The pop-up is being operated in collaboration with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA). Hyundai Department Store is responsible for event planning, product transportation and local store operations, while KOCCA is supporting the participating brands and promoting them locally in Europe.
The Hyundai Global is a platform that supports promising Korean brands in fashion, beauty and lifestyle as they expand overseas. Since launching in Tokyo, Japan, in 2024, it has opened pop-up stores and flagship locations in major Asian cities, including Osaka, Nagoya, Taipei and Taichung City.
According to Hyundai Department Store, the flagship store that opened last July at Omokado on Tokyo's Omotesando Street is exceeding its sales target by 30%. The pop-up stores operated at Shibuya Parco in Japan and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store in Taiwan also recorded the highest sales among all pop-ups ever held at those locations.
Building on its performance in Asia, Hyundai Department Store plans to use the Paris pop-up to accelerate The Hyundai Global's expansion into Europe. By 2030, it plans to establish approximately 10 The Hyundai Global flagship stores across Asia, Europe and North America.
Yoo Hee-yeol, head of the fashion division and an executive director at Hyundai Department Store, said, "The Hyundai Global is serving as a bridgehead that highlights the excellence of K-content while enabling Korean brands to take the leap onto the global stage." He added, "Beyond simply opening overseas stores, we will continue to strengthen its role as a global hub that helps promising Korean brands successfully establish themselves and grow in overseas markets."
