[Financial News] KT is introducing a plugin service that connects OpenAI's ChatGPT with its official product information. Customers can now explore mobile plans, internet and internet TV (IPTV) services through conversations with ChatGPT without having to search KT's website or app themselves.
KT announced on the 6th that it had launched a plugin service connecting ChatGPT with its official product information.
A plugin is a tool that connects ChatGPT to external services, allowing it to use their information and functions. Users can install and use the KT plugin from ChatGPT's chat sidebar.
Users can enter their preferences in natural language on ChatGPT to find suitable KT mobile plans and internet and IPTV products. For example, they might ask, "I'm in my 20s and use a lot of data. Which 5G plan would be best for me?" or "Tell me about plans that offer online video service (OTT) benefits." The service recommends relevant products based on factors such as age, data usage and desired benefits.
The answers use the latest official product information provided by KT instead of data previously learned by generative artificial intelligence (AI). This approach is intended to reduce information gaps caused by product updates and improve the accuracy of the guidance.
KT plans to expand the service beyond OpenAI's ChatGPT to other AI platforms, including Anthropic's Claude. It also plans to develop the currently product-focused search function into a personalized service by adding features such as charge inquiries based on actual usage information and membership services.
Son Jeong-yeop, executive director and head of the Device Business Division in KT's Customer Business Unit, said, "We will continue expanding customer touchpoints by connecting our accurate and reliable information with various AI platforms, so customers can access the products and services they need more easily and conveniently."
