[Financial News Hongseong=Kim Won-jun] South Chungcheong Province China Office has demonstrated the results of its 'hands-on local support' model by opening an export channel to China for a local seasoned seaweed manufacturer.
South Chungcheong Province China Office announced on the 6th that Company J, a local seasoned seaweed manufacturer, had achieved total exports worth USD 12,600, or approximately KRW 17 million, in the Chinese market.
South Chungcheong Province China Office has continuously supported matchmaking consultations between Company J and buyers in China, paving the way for the company's first shipment worth USD 2,600 in July. After consistently promoting the brand and products through local distribution channels, the office recently saw the fruits of its efforts when an additional shipment worth USD 10,000, equivalent to one container, was dispatched.
As favorable reviews from local consumers continue, expectations for future growth are also rising. South Chungcheong Province expects the company to export an additional 10 containers worth approximately USD 100,000 by the first half of next year, based on the local response.
The achievement is considered particularly meaningful because it resulted not from a one-off event, such as an overseas export consultation fair, but from the South Chungcheong Province overseas office's hands-on support for follow-up management and contract fulfillment through to the end. It is also being viewed as a model case of turning agreements into actual export shipments, moving beyond the practice of stopping at the signing of a simple memorandum of understanding (MOU).
A South Chungcheong Province official said, "This achievement resulted from continuing follow-up support while maintaining constant communication with buyers on the ground, rather than ending with a one-time consultation," adding, "We will substantially strengthen support through our overseas offices so that provincial export companies can secure substantive contracts in China and expand their sales channels."
Meanwhile, South Chungcheong Province plans to provide multifaceted support to help local agricultural and fisheries food companies strengthen their overseas expansion capabilities in line with this market momentum. It will continue expanding customized support measures, including building a network of local buyers centered on the China office, consulting on customs clearance and sanitary quarantine licensing from the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA), and connecting companies with local online and offline logistics networks.
