Eco-Friendly Market to Open at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea; 'MMCA Market' Set for the 14th

[Financial News] A marketplace offering seasonal food, crafts and art books, along with live performances, will be set up in the museum courtyard. Visitors can also take part in eco-friendly activities, including clothing exchanges and plant sharing.
The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea said on the 6th that the '2026 MMCA Market' will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the 14th at the Museum Courtyard and other areas of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul. Around 70 small businesses and creators will participate.
The market will be divided into five zones: Green, Design, Food, Art Book and Campaign. Seasonal agricultural products, handmade crafts, design goods, vegan food and art books will be presented.
The Campaign Zone will offer a silk-screen printing activity for creating climate crisis messages, as well as clothing exchanges and plant sharing. These programs add the meaning of resource circulation to a marketplace centered on purchasing.
Talks on architecture and cooking will also be held. At 2 p.m. in the Membership Lounge on the third floor of the Education Building, architect couple No Eun-ju and Im Hyung-nam will explore the roots of Korean culture based on their book "The K of Architecture."
At 4 p.m., chef Shin So Young will discuss the restoration of everyday life and connections with nature under the theme "Artistic Practices at the Table." The talks can be booked in advance on the museum's website, and visitors may also join on the day if seats remain.
Starting at 5:30 p.m., Kim Doeon, omm.. and Woo Huijun will take the stage in turn at the outdoor stage in the Museum Courtyard. The performances are free to attend without reservations. The exhibitions will also be open free of charge starting at 6 p.m.
By combining the afternoon talks, evening performances and nighttime exhibition visits, visitors can experience various cultural programs in a single trip.
No reservation is required to enter the market. Some vendors will finish operating at 3 p.m., while others will be replaced between 3 and 5 p.m. In case of rain, some booths will operate indoors, with details posted on the website that morning.
Yoon Tae-wook, acting director of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, said, "We hope everyone who visits the museum will fully enjoy art and relaxation in their everyday lives."
