[Financial News] Karoline Leavitt, 29, who served as White House press secretary during the second Donald Trump administration, is joining Fox News.
Yonhap News reported on the 6th, citing The New York Times (NYT), that Fox News announced on the 5th local time that former press secretary Leavitt would join the network as an on-air contributor beginning on the first of next month. Rather than hosting a specific program, Leavitt will serve as a commentator appearing across Fox News programming.
Leavitt, who became the youngest press secretary in White House history, rose to Donald Trump's inner circle after serving as a campaign spokesperson since his presidential campaign.
She stood on the front lines of defending President Trump with her outspoken and aggressive responses. Trump once described the fast-talking former press secretary by saying, "Her lips move like a machine gun."
After giving birth to her second child in May and taking maternity leave, Leavitt left the White House at the end of August, saying she wanted to spend more time with her family.
In a statement, Leavitt said, "I will bring to Fox News the unique perspective and candor that characterized my tenure in the Trump administration."
The New York Times reported, "Beginning next month, former press secretary Leavitt is expected to provide commentary on Fox News's commentary and news programs, among others."
Meanwhile, pro-Trump Fox News has become home to former Trump administration officials and members of his family.
Kayleigh McEnany, who served as the final White House press secretary during the first Trump administration, began working as a contributor in 2021 and now hosts her own program. Lara Trump, President Trump's daughter-in-law and the wife of his second son, Eric Trump, hosts a weekly program on Fox News.
There have also been cases of people moving from Fox News to the Trump administration.
Pete Hegseth, Sean Duffy and Mehmet Oz were tapped for the second Trump administration as secretary of defense, secretary of transportation and administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), respectively.
