According to Yoido Full Gospel Church on the 5th, the visit was organized by the Korean War United Nations Veterans Memorial Foundation to promote friendship between South Korea and the United States. Prominent figures from both countries, including Ambassador Steel and her husband and General Brunson and his wife, attended and jointly honored the sacrifices of Korean War veterans.
After the service, the attendees held a cordial conversation with senior pastor Rev. Young Hoon Lee, discussing the ROK-U.S. alliance, peace on the Korean Peninsula and closer friendship between the two countries, the church said.
Rev. Young Hoon Lee said, "The ROK-U.S. alliance is a precious partnership that has protected the freedom and peace of the Republic of Korea and serves as an important foundation for peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula. Even amid rapidly changing international circumstances, it is important for our two countries to cooperate based on firm trust and friendship and work together so that lasting peace can take root on the Korean Peninsula."
Rev. Young Hoon Lee also expressed his gratitude to U.S. troops and veterans of the U.N. forces who served in the Korean War, stating, "The Korean Church will also remember the sacrifices of the veterans and continue to pray for friendship between South Korea and the United States and peace on the Korean Peninsula."
