[Financial News] CJ CheilJedang is expanding the sales network for its premium distilled spirit brand jari from New York to the U.S. West Coast.
According to industry sources on the 5th, CJ CheilJedang held a launch event for jari on the 29th of last month (local time) at NIKU X LA, a downtown Los Angeles restaurant. More than 100 people from the local dining and bar industries attended, sampling three jari products and experiencing pairings with Korean cuisine. A case of mutual growth with a domestic partner brewery was also introduced.
Last month, jari also held an event in Manhattan for representatives from leading local Korean restaurants and bars.
jari is a distilled soju brand created by CJ CheilJedang in collaboration with Munbaeju Yangjowon brewery and Danong Bio. It is focused on introducing the taste and aroma of Korean-style distilled spirits made from traditional Korean liquor to the local food and beverage industry, while expanding the market for alcoholic drinks enjoyed with Korean cuisine.
In New York, the company has confirmed supply deals with Michelin-starred restaurants such as Jungsik and Joo Ok, as well as Seoul Salon and Nari. CJ CheilJedang plans to expand jari's sales channels in New York starting this month and broaden its local distribution network across the western United States, particularly in Los Angeles.
A CJ CheilJedang official said, "We confirmed the local food and beverage industry's interest in K-distilled spirits in New York and LA. We will work with local partners to expand sales channels where consumers can experience jari."
