According to Agence France-Presse (AFP) on the 4th (local time), President Zelenskyy said, "The United States is currently in contact with Ukraine and Russia and has proposed holding a meeting at the technical level in a trilateral format by the end of October." He added, "I spoke with the United States negotiating team the previous day," and "We said we were ready to agree to this schedule."
Although President Zelenskyy did not specify a venue for the talks, he said, "We are open to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or any other country proposed by the United States." The UAE has previously hosted negotiations, mediated by the United States, aimed at ending Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Regarding President Zelenskyy's remarks, the Kremlin had previously said last month that U.S.-Russia-Ukraine trilateral negotiations to end the war could be held in October. At the time, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti and the TASS Russian News Agency, "We do not rule out such a possibility," adding, "We are talking about the foreseeable future."
