[Financial News] A man in his 50s was arrested after allegedly striking a woman in her 20s on the head with a stone as she walked down a street late at night.
According to Yonhap News Agency and other sources on the 5th, Yongin Dongbu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said it had arrested and was questioning a man in his 50s, identified as A, on suspicion of special injury.
A is accused of striking B, a woman in her 20s, on the back of the head with a stone at 1:19 a.m. that day on a street in Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, injuring her.
The investigation found that the two were complete strangers. A reportedly followed B as she was heading home after finishing her part-time job and then attacked her.
The stone used in the attack was reportedly picked up nearby. Citizens who heard B's screams called the police and subdued A, according to reports.
Police officers responding to the report arrested A at the scene.
B is reportedly receiving treatment for bruising to the head.
A reportedly told police, "I was drunk and don't remember."
Police are analyzing nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and other evidence to determine the specific circumstances of the attack. They also plan to seek an arrest warrant for A.
