[Financial News, Hongseong = Kim Won-jun] South Chungcheong Province took part in a Hallyu cultural festival held in Los Angeles, United States, promoting the appeal of South Chungcheong tourism to local Americans and Korean residents.
South Chungcheong Province announced on the 5th that it had participated in the 53rd Los Angeles Korean Festival, held from the 1st to the 4th (local time) at Seoul International Park in Koreatown, Los Angeles, and operated a South Chungcheong tourism promotional booth.
The Los Angeles Korean Festival is the largest Hallyu festival in the Americas, combining Korean cultural experiences such as K-pop and K-food with an agriculture and fisheries expo and a food market. This year, approximately 400,000 or more visitors attended.
During the festival, South Chungcheong Province screened tourism promotional videos and distributed comprehensive guidebooks and promotional materials at its booth. It also held social media follow events to encourage participation among local visitors and make the South Chungcheong tourism brand more familiar.
Targeting local consumers with a strong interest in Hallyu content, the province introduced key tourism resources in South Chungcheong while actively promoting four major events scheduled to take place next year across South Chungcheong Province and the Chungcheong region. These events are the Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo, Chungnam Island Biennale, World Youth Day (WYD), and Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games.
Beyond promoting the province to visitors, South Chungcheong Province visited the Los Angeles office of the Korea Tourism Organization and the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles to discuss ways to boost tourism in the province. It also worked to build networks by identifying the latest Korean travel trends among consumers in the Americas.
A South Chungcheong Province official said, "Through this event, we were able to directly convey the appeal of South Chungcheong tourism to consumers in the Americas at the heart of the Hallyu boom," adding, "We will continue our marketing efforts to attract tourists from the Americas by strengthening cooperation with overseas offices and local institutions."
Meanwhile, South Chungcheong Province is also considering collaborating with major Korean travel agencies in the Americas and global online travel agencies (OTAs) to develop tourism products. The province plans to create customized tour packages linking resources that reflect South Chungcheong's traditions and recreational appeal, including the Baekje Cultural Festival, Taeanhaean National Park, and Deoksan Hot Spa District. It will further strengthen follow-up marketing to turn the interest of Hallyu enthusiasts in the Americas into actual visits to Korea.
