[Financial News] SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said he would rename SpaceXAI, an AI subsidiary, SpaceXSI.
Musk said on X (formerly Twitter) on the 4th local time, "There is no more AI. It's superintelligence (SI). This is better."
When a user asked whether there was a possibility of changing the AI company's name to SpaceXSI, Musk replied, "Yes," adding, "We will make that change."
Musk's remarks are seen as an effort to align with U.S. President Donald Trump's stance on referring to AI as SI.
President Trump believed that the term "artificial" was fueling opposition to AI technology and signed an executive order calling for it to be changed to SI. However, Musk did not mention when the name change would take effect or provide details about the process.
As of 6 p.m. Pacific Time, the company's official X account and website still listed its name as SpaceXAI, while the website address remained x.ai.
Earlier, Musk merged xAI, the AI startup he founded, with SpaceX and incorporated it as a wholly owned subsidiary before changing the company's name to SpaceXAI in July.
