[Financial News] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SMOE) has arranged 350 one-on-one personalized high school admissions counseling sessions for third-year middle school students and their parents. SMOE announced on the 5th that it had established the Intensive High School Admissions Counseling Center for Third-Year Middle School Students and would offer remote video counseling for one week, from October 26 to November 1.
Counseling will be provided after school on weekdays and on weekends, with schedules coordinated individually with applicants. Registration will open online at 9 a.m. on the 6th on a first-come, first-served basis and may close early.
SMOE explained that it established the center for the first time to ease parents’ concerns about high school admissions and the 2028 college admissions reforms, while providing personalized career and college admissions information.
Teachers from the Seoul Career, College Admissions and Academic Planning Support Team will serve as counselors. The sessions will cover high school selection based on students’ aptitudes and career aspirations, subject-selection strategies under the high school credit system, and school life record management and school life linked to college admissions.
The plan is to help students and parents establish a roadmap for college admissions. The high school credit system allows students to choose and complete courses based on their career paths, while the school life record is an official document that records students’ school lives and academic achievements.
Geun-sik Chung, Superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "It is extremely important to provide continuous career, college admissions and academic planning aligned with students’ career development starting in the third year of middle school." He added, "We will continue expanding highly reliable, personalized career and college admissions services centered on public education so that students and parents can systematically prepare their admissions plans according to students’ career paths without the burden of private education and with sufficient time."
