[Financial News Hoengseong = Reporter Kim Gi-seop] Gangwon State residents who had been excluded from the half-price travel benefits can enjoy riding a luge and making steamed buns in Hoengseong this month at half price.
According to Hoengseong County in Gangwon State on the 5th, the county will offer Gangwon State residents a 50% discount on experiential program fees at its signature tourist facilities, Hoengseong Luge and Anheung Jjinppang Morakmorak Village, through the end of this month. The initiative aims to attract residents during October's peak season, when festivals are held every week and fall foliage reaches its peak.
The discount also seeks to address a gap in the government's half-price travel program. After being selected for this year's program, the county received such a strong response from tourists that more than 10,000 spots filled up early across three application rounds. However, complaints have continued that nearby residents of Gangwon State were unable to benefit because the program's rules excluded residents of neighboring cities and counties.
A series of festivals will take place in Hoengseong this month. The Anheung Steamed Bun Festival was held from the 2nd to the 4th, followed by the 22nd Hoengseong Korean Beef Festival, which will run for five days from the 7th through the 11th around Seomgang Riverside Park. On the 17th and 18th, the Taejong Nogu Cultural Festival will welcome visitors in areas around Gangnim-myeon.
There are also plenty of places to enjoy the autumn scenery beyond the festival grounds. Trails, including Hoengseonghosugil Trail as well as Eodapsan, Taegisan and Chiaksan, offer opportunities to walk while taking in the fall foliage. Hoengseong has long been considered a popular autumn hiking destination for visitors from across the country.
Park Eun-jung, head of Hoengseong County's Culture and Tourism Division, said, "With festivals being held every week and the leaves along Hoengseonghosugil Trail and Chiaksan changing color, we are offering residents of Gangwon State half-price benefits. We hope that those who have been excluded from discounts because they live nearby will also make autumn memories and take a break at the luge attraction and the steamed-bun village."
