[Financial News]  Busan Metropolitan City Government said on the fifth that Mayor Jeon Jae-soo received Karl-Olof Andersson, Sweden's ambassador to South Korea, in the City Hall's International Protocol Room on the first and discussed ways to promote exchanges and cooperation between Busan and Sweden.
Mayor Jeon emphasized the need to expand cooperation between Busan and Sweden in the global maritime sector. Busan is scheduled to host next year's World Congress of the World Association of Port Cities and the Fourth UN Ocean Conference in 2028, and maritime and port officials from around the world are expected to visit the city.
Last October, Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, and a delegation made an official visit to Busan. The visit continued exchanges between the two countries, including a tribute at the Taejongdae Monument Commemorating the Participation of the Medical Support Unit and the Monument to the Participation of Sweden in the Korean War.
Mayor Jeon said, "Busan and Sweden share the fact that they are a city and a country, respectively, that have grown around the sea. I hope that this meeting will serve as an opportunity for us to share our respective strengths and expand opportunities for cooperation not only in maritime and port sectors, such as eco-friendly vessels and smart logistics, but also in the economic and industrial sectors."
