Trend in President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating for job performance. News1

[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating for his job performance stood at 37.4%. The figure was down 0.5 percentage points from the previous week, marking a slight decline after three weeks. The result is interpreted as reflecting the greater impact of negative factors, including the controversy over appointing the chief of the Serious Crime Investigation Agency and the DMZ landmine explosion.
According to Realmeter on the 5th, a survey commissioned by Energy Economy Newspaper of 2,515 people aged 18 or older nationwide, conducted from the 28th of last month through the 2nd, found that 37.4% viewed President Lee Jae Myung's job performance positively.
The negative assessment stood at 59.8%, down 0.3 percentage points from the previous week. Those who responded "Don't know" accounted for 2.8%.
Realmeter analyzed, "There were positive factors, including the announcement of policies for people's livelihoods and welfare using 63 trillion won in excess tax revenue. However, negative factors involving personnel, national security and people's livelihoods had a greater impact, including the establishment of the Public Prosecution Office and the Serious Crime Investigation Agency, the controversy over appointing Kim Ji-yong as chief of the Serious Crime Investigation Agency, the DMZ landmine explosion, diplomatic friction with Ukraine, and instability in jeonse deposits and monthly rents in the Seoul metropolitan area. Confidence in the administration therefore appears to have edged down."
In a party preference survey of 1,009 voters aged 18 or older nationwide conducted on the 1st and 2nd, the Democratic Party of Korea recorded 42.5% and the People Power Party 38.4%.
The Democratic Party of Korea rose 3.8 percentage points from the previous survey, while the People Power Party fell 1.0 percentage point.
The Rebuilding Korea Party (RKP) recorded 5.2%, up 1.2 percentage points from the previous week. The Reform Party stood at 1.5% and the Progressive Party at 1.3%. Other parties accounted for 1.6%, while voters with no party affiliation accounted for 9.5%.
The presidential job performance survey had a margin of error of ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, with a response rate of 3.9%. The party preference survey had a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at the same confidence level, with a response rate of 3.0%. Both surveys were conducted using a 100% wireless automated-response method. For details, refer to the website of the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission.
