The leadership of the North Korean regime, which is denying landmine explosions on the western front, observed a missile launch. The Kim Jong Un regime is continuing military provocations while mocking President Lee Jae Myung and the Ministry of Unification for proposing dialogue. It is assessed that the missile launched by North Korea is a hypersonic "medium-range strategic missile" with increased thrust, demonstrating the capability to threaten not only U.S. military bases in Japan from which U.S. reinforcements would be launched in the event of a contingency, but also the U.S. territory of Guam.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un personally observed a medium-range strategic missile launch exercise held on the 3rd, the Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Workers' Party of Korea, reported on the 4th. Kim's wife, Ri Sol-ju, and 14-year-old daughter, Kim Ju Ae, were also seen.
The Ministry of National Defense stated in a statement issued in the name of the spokesperson's office on this day, "We assess that the missile recently launched by North Korea is at a level that can be sufficiently detected and intercepted by the defensive assets possessed by South Korea and the United States." It also condemned North Korea's ballistic missile launch as "a grave act that violates United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions."
