[Financial News] Evidence has emerged that the co-pilot who attempted to crash a flydubai passenger plane bound for Israel on the 30th of last month had praised Islamic extremist terrorist organizations, including Al-Qaeda. On the 3rd, CNN and other U.S. media outlets reported that posts praising Al-Qaeda's former leader and deceased Islamic terrorists appeared on the social media account of Hamam al-Hammami, the 29-year-old Omani co-pilot of the aircraft, nine hours after the incident. It has not been confirmed whether al-Hammami posted the messages himself, whether they had been scheduled in advance, or whether someone else uploaded them. CNN also reported that religious extremism and misogyny had repeatedly appeared in posts al-Hammami previously published on social media.
On the 30th of last month, al-Hammami was subdued after attacking the captain with an emergency axe and attempting to crash Flydubai Flight 1073 while it was traveling from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Tel Aviv, Israel. He had previously worked for Oman Air for seven years but was removed from duty after his access to extremist websites was discovered. He later joined flydubai in February. U.S. President Donald Trump claimed in a statement issued on the 1st that Iran was involved in the incident.
