[Financial News Hoengseong = Reporter Kim Gi-seop] Hoengseong’s agricultural and specialty products, which had relied on overseas special sales events, now have a path to steady sales through major retail chain stores in the United States.
According to Hoengseong County on the 4th, a delegation including County Governor Jang Shin-sang visited Hannam Chain Market’s Fullerton branch and the headquarters of LA Galleria Commerce in succession on the 2nd, local time, and met with executives from local retail chains. The delegation signed a tripartite business agreement between Hoengseong County, Hannam Chain Market, and local distributor Koreana Food. The three parties agreed to work together to facilitate the stable entry of Hoengseong’s agricultural and specialty products and processed foods into the U.S. market.
Under the agreement, the three organizations and companies will establish a cooperation framework to expand the local distribution and sales of Hoengseong’s agricultural and specialty products. They will also exchange information needed to enter the U.S. market and broaden their cooperation. The county plans to shift its promotional activities, which have so far focused on overseas special sales events, toward securing permanent sales channels linked to local distribution networks.
The delegation also closely examined trends in the major supermarket distribution market in the United States. It reviewed local consumers’ food-buying habits, distribution trends, and the sales status of Korean agricultural and food products while exploring ways to establish Hoengseong’s agricultural and specialty products in local stores.
County Governor Jang said, "It is difficult to keep Hoengseong’s agricultural products in U.S. consumers’ shopping carts with just one or two special sales events," and added, "Using this agreement with local major supermarkets as a stepping stone, we will strengthen the distribution base and expand sales channels so that Hoengseong’s agricultural and specialty products and processed foods can be supplied continuously to stores in the United States."
