KT Sends 18 National Team Athletes to Asian Games, Wins Seven Medals

[Financial News] Eighteen athletes from kt sports competed as national team members in five sports—baseball, basketball, esports, shooting and hockey—at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, winning three gold, two silver and two bronze medals. KT's efforts to operate teams in hockey, shooting, baseball, basketball and esports while supporting athlete development have translated into achievements at an international competition, analysts said.
According to industry sources on the 4th, 18 athletes competed as national team members at the Games: three from kt wiz, one from Suwon KT Sonicboom, one from KT Rolster, three from the KT shooting team and 10 from the KT Hockey Team. This was the largest number ever for a single domestic company, surpassing the 13 athletes sent to the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
In women's hockey, 10 players from the KT Hockey Team, including national team captain Lee Yu-ri, represented South Korea. They accounted for half of the 20-member national team. It was the largest-ever number of players from the KT Hockey Team selected for the Asian Games women's hockey national team.
The women's hockey team advanced to the semifinals at the Games.
Park Ha-jun of the KT shooting team won silver in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team event and bronze in the men's team event. Jeong Seung-woo claimed bronze in the men's 50-meter rifle three positions team event, while Jang Guk-hee won silver in the mixed skeet team event.
So Hyeong-jun, Oh Won-seok and Park Yeong-hyun of kt wiz helped the baseball national team win the gold medal.
Jeong Hyeon Moon of Suwon KT Sonicboom won gold with the men's basketball national team. Yeon Je-gil of KT Rolster also claimed the first-ever gold medal in the esports fighting game team event.
Lee Sun-joo, head of kt sports, said, "The efforts we have made to support various sports and athletes over the past 42 years have led to meaningful results at these Games. The KT Group will continue working to strengthen the competitiveness of various sports and the foundation for developing athletes."
