According to sources in the financial sector on the 4th, Welcome Savings Bank determined that the information leaked in the incident was related to corporate customers, not individual customers, and amounted to approximately 2,200 records at most.
Welcome Savings Bank stated, "We plan to notify each affected party individually to prevent any harm resulting from the hacking of personal information, including the phone numbers of corporate account representatives. We will promptly address issues such as web vulnerabilities to ensure safe financial transactions."
Following reports that information belonging to approximately 25,000 Shinhan Bank customers had been leaked, similar incidents have continued to emerge at other financial firms. In the savings bank sector, Yegaram Savings Bank also previously experienced an incident in which information on approximately 40,000 customers was leaked.
Meanwhile, financial authorities have urgently summoned the heads of associations across all financial sectors and representatives of the affected financial firms. They are inspecting security vulnerabilities in computer systems accessible from outside and checking for any additional damage.
