[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung emphasized on the 4th, "Reform is carried out for the people and the country, not for someone's political accomplishments or applause."
President Lee wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that day, "Reform should be the goal, not a means of demonstrating clarity, attracting attention, or attacking someone."
He stressed, "Reform must lead to tangible results that improve people's livelihoods and contribute to national development. Nor should a process made noisy merely to attract attention hinder the creation of results."
He added, "We will pursue practical reform that genuinely improves people's lives without wavering."
President Lee did not specify any particular issue. However, some have interpreted the remarks as referring to the situation in which backlash has continued, particularly among ruling-party hardliners and staunch supporters, after Cheong Wa Dae submitted to the National Assembly on the 1st a request for a confirmation hearing for Kim Ji-yong, nominee to head the Serious Crime Investigation Agency.
