[Financial News] Hyundai Department Store has delivered KRW 300 million raised with its customers to support flood recovery in Nepal and people displaced by the disaster.
According to industry sources on the 4th, Hyundai Department Store donated KRW 300 million to Habitat for Humanity Korea for recovery efforts in areas affected by severe flooding in Nepal and the reconstruction of housing facilities.
The donation was raised through a combination of contributions from a voluntary customer fundraising campaign and proceeds from an offline event.
Hyundai Department Store conducted the "Emergency Fundraising for the Nepal Floods" campaign through the H.Point app, the group's integrated membership platform, from August 28 to September 13. A total of 14,266 customers donated 50 million points, while Hyundai Department Store contributed an equal amount through a matching-grant program, raising KRW 100 million in total.
From the 4th to the 10th of last month, the company also held a fashion product discount event at department stores and outlets nationwide under the theme "Together for Nepal Flood Relief." It added KRW 200 million in event proceeds to the donation.
Jung Ji-young, president of Hyundai Department Store, said, "We were able to deliver this donation because customers came together to share points accumulated in their daily lives and support the purpose of the relief effort. We hope it will help people displaced by the disaster in Nepal return to their daily lives, and we will continue to practice warm giving with our customers."
