[Financial News] South Korea's U-23 national soccer team, led by coach Lee Min-sung, defeated its longtime rival Japan on Japanese soil to write a new chapter in history with a fourth consecutive Asian Games title.
South Korea held on to a dramatic winning goal scored by Eom Ji-sung (Swansea City Association Football Club) in the 16th minute of the second half to defeat Japan 1-0 and win the gold medal in the men's soccer final at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, held at Toyota Stadium in Aichi Prefecture on the 3rd.
With this victory, South Korean soccer achieved its fourth consecutive men's soccer title at the Asian Games—the first such feat in the history of the event—following the 2014 Incheon, 2018 Jakarta-Palembang, and 2022 Hangzhou Games.
Most notably, South Korea defeated Japan in each of the three consecutive finals between the two countries, including this Nagoya edition after the Jakarta-Palembang and Hangzhou Games, perfectly proving its pride as "the strongest team in Asia."
