YEGARAM SAVINGS BANK discovered on the 3rd that customers' personal information had been leaked in a hacking attack.
The previous day, YEGARAM SAVINGS BANK posted a notice and apology regarding the personal information breach on its website under the name of CEO Moon Yun-seok.
YEGARAM SAVINGS BANK stated, "On September 30, 2026, we confirmed signs that an unidentified hacker had accessed a server containing customers' personal information and that the information had been leaked."
The leaked information included users' names, dates of birth and contact details such as mobile phone numbers. The number of affected individuals is currently estimated at around 40,000, but the exact figure is still being determined, according to reports.
After confirming the incident, the bank took emergency measures, including suspending related services and blocking access from external IP addresses. It also strengthened security monitoring to prevent further damage.
A separate customer service center will also operate for affected customers. YEGARAM SAVINGS BANK said it plans to review reports of damage received through the center and, when necessary, support relevant relief procedures.
In its apology, YEGARAM SAVINGS BANK said, "We deeply apologize for causing concern to our customers," and added that it is taking follow-up measures.
Hacking attacks and personal information breaches have recently occurred one after another in the financial sector. Breaches involving customer information have previously been confirmed at Shinhan Bank, KB Kookmin Bank and Hana Bank, raising growing concerns about cybersecurity systems across the industry.
