President Lee Jae Myung is having a dinner meeting with former Democratic Party of Korea leader Jung Cheong-rae at Cheong Wa Dae on the 1st. Provided by Cheong Wa Dae.

[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung stated, "You may not know this, but former Democratic Party of Korea leader Jung Cheong-rae and I are comrades who fought together and made it through the era of darkness and death, when even our lives were threatened, and the night of the insurrection."
On the 3rd, President Lee shared on X, formerly Twitter, a post by a user who criticized his dinner meeting with former leader Jung on the 1st, saying, 'Stop bothering him already,' and wrote this.
President Lee said, "Former leader Jung told me that he wanted to meet frequently right after the party convention, and while I was speaking with him by phone to offer comfort during his hospitalization, we agreed to meet. I held the dinner meeting after returning home from attending the UN General Assembly and completing a trip to the United Mexican States."
He explained, "He was not being dragged around by me, nor did I harass him, so please do not misunderstand or distort the situation."
Earlier, President Lee invited former leader Jung to Cheong Wa Dae on the 1st and shared a dinner with him for about four hours. Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik, who had offered his resignation, was also present.
Kang Yoo-jung, senior spokesperson for Cheong Wa Dae, said, "President Lee Jae Myung and former leader Jung Cheong-rae held candid discussions for four hours on various state affairs and party matters, and formed a deep consensus." Specific details of the conversation were not disclosed.
