[Financial News] Cho Kuk, head of the Rebuilding Korea Party's Innovation Policy Research Institute, took aim at independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon, accusing him of going beyond insulting the late former President Roh Moo-hyun to "committing a despicable act of political desecration against the dead."
Han Dong-hoon wrote on his social media on the 2nd, "It is a fact that Roh Moo-hyun's side received two Piaget watches worth 300 million won and tens of billions of won." He added that progressives had spent nearly 20 years creating a fictional victim narrative that Roh Moo-hyun was a victim of a fabricated prosecution investigation and exploiting it for their political gain.
Progressives, including the Democratic Party of Korea and the RKP, reacted angrily to Han Dong-hoon's remarks, calling them an insult to the deceased. Cho Kuk also expressed his anger on social media, saying, "As Han Dong-hoon's approval ratings for the next presidential race rise, he has become arrogant and is insulting the dead. That's an outrage."
Cho Kuk pointed out, "He is a prosecutor-centric ideologue to the core, so he has not shown even the slightest remorse for the prosecution investigation that drove Roh Moo-hyun to his death. Although Han Dong-hoon knows that it was not President Roh Moo-hyun himself but 'Roh Moo-hyun's side' that received the money and valuables in question, he is insulting Roh again."
He continued, "Han Dong-hoon, once the 'crown prince' of the prosecutor's kingdom, seems to dream of reviving that kingdom and becoming its 'monarch.' Dream on. Since we are all chief mourners for Roh Moo-hyun, we will not tolerate such a vile act of political desecration against the dead."
Han Dong-hoon responded the same day, saying, "Cho Kuk cannot refute the 'facts' and is getting worked up and playing on emotions, saying that they are chief mourners and will not leave me alone. I ask Cho Kuk: Is what I said—that former President Roh Moo-hyun himself or his family received two Piaget watches worth 300 million won and tens of billions of won from sponsor Park Yeon-cha—true or false?"
He added, "The Democratic Party's political forces call themselves chief mourners? Roh Moo-hyun himself probably would not have liked seeing them viciously attack him while he was alive, then switch positions one by one after his death and use him for nearly 20 years to gaslight the public."
Han Dong-hoon continued posting related statements on social media, claiming, "The prosecution investigation into Roh Moo-hyun was not fabricated; it was based on facts, and Roh Moo-hyun himself apologized to the public and did not say that the investigation was fabricated," and "The Democratic Party's 20-year gaslighting—that abolishing the prosecution system would be Roh Moo-hyun's revenge for being unjustly subjected to a fabricated investigation—is fiction."
