Kang Chae-young (Hyundai Mobis), a member of South Korea’s national women’s archery team, suffered a quarterfinal defeat in the recurve individual event at the 2026 Asian Games.
Kang lost 4-6 in sets to India’s Kumkum Anil Mohod in the quarterfinals of the recurve individual event at the Games, held at the multipurpose plaza of Okazaki Central General Park in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on the morning of the 3rd.
After winning a silver medal in the women’s team event with Oh Ye-jin (Kwangju Bank) and Lee Yun-ji (Hyundai Mobis), as well as a bronze in the mixed team event with Kim Je-deok (Yecheon County Office) the previous day, Kang had her sights set on gold. However, her bid ended early in the tournament.
After the match, Kang said, "The opponent shot well, but all I can think is that I should have shot better." She added, "I should have done better at what I needed to do, so I’m disappointed and upset. I deeply regret that I couldn’t repay the association officials with a gold medal."
In the following match, Oh Ye-jin defeated Taiwan’s Hsu Hsin-tzu 6-4 to advance to the semifinals.
