Gasoline and diesel prices at domestic gas stations fell slightly, extending their decline for 20 consecutive weeks.
According to Opinet, the Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC)'s oil price information system, on the 3rd, the nationwide average retail gasoline price in the fifth week of September (September 27–October 1) was 1,857.6 won per liter, down 0.4 won from the previous week.
International oil prices this week were pressured less by concerns over supply disruptions as crude oil exports from the Middle East recovered and Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline resumed operations. However, tight supplies of petroleum products limited the decline.
International gasoline prices rose by $3.3 to $143.3, while international automotive diesel prices fell by $1.8 to $174.9.
Meanwhile, the government is maintaining its maximum petroleum price system to minimize the impact of fluctuations in international oil prices on the domestic market. The 10th designated maximum petroleum prices, announced on the 18th of last month, remain the same as the ninth: 1,784 won per liter for gasoline, 1,773 won for diesel and 1,380 won for kerosene.
