[Financial News] An unprecedented incident occurred just one day before the festival when the headliner, or main performer, suddenly pulled out of the show. It happened at the 2026 Busan International Rock Festival, also known as Busan Rock Fest. Avenged Sevenfold, the headliner for the festival's opening day, announced that it would not attend, citing a sudden health problem, and notified the host, the Busan International Festival Organizing Committee. However, Busan Rock Fest successfully turned the crisis into an opportunity.
According to the Busan Festival Organizing Committee and others on the 2nd, Megadeth, the headliner scheduled for the festival's second day, was named the headliner for the first day after the opening-day headliner canceled its appearance.
This was more than a simple lineup change. Megadeth agreed to perform as the headliner on both the first and second days—two consecutive days.
Considering the story of the legendary thrash-metal band Megadeth, which is nearing retirement, the band's decision during its visit to Busan carries deep significance. As a result, Megadeth has received widespread applause from fans and online users.
The decision allowed the Busan Festival Organizing Committee to breathe a sigh of relief. Rock fans who visited the festival grounds at Samnak Eco Park enjoyed the event without any major incidents or grounds for complaint.

Several bands responded with outstanding performances to the passionate cheers of rock fans in Busan on the festival's opening day. Redoor delivered a dynamic performance before a packed audience at the Green Stage, while Busan hometown band BANDGIRIN energized fans at the Wave Stage by engaging with them.
Romantic Punch also drew cheers from fans with a dazzling performance at the main Samnak Stage, making full use of both sides of the stage. Xdinary Heroes, which performed at the Green Stage, likewise delivered a passionate and intense show, exclaiming, "Busan's passion is incredible."
In addition, participatory programs such as the 'BU-ROCK Singing Contest' and 'BU-ROCK Field Day' were held at the Hidden Stage on the first day, allowing many participants to enjoy themselves in a festive atmosphere. Some visitors also viewed the Road to BU-ROCK Zone, which displayed records from Road to BU-ROCK, a pre-festival event for Busan Rock Fest. A person wearing a shark mascot costume reminiscent of the nearby shark 'Bukangi' also joined in, creating an unusual photo spot.
Megadeth's performance, which closed out the first day, was also spectacular. Vocalist Dave Mustaine delivered an energetic show that belied his age of 65. The rock fans in attendance waved their hands to the rhythm and cheered loudly.
Jang, a person in their 20s identified only by the surname, who attended Busan Rock Fest, said, "I wondered whether BU-ROCK was facing a crisis after the first day's headliner pulled out, but Megadeth moved many rock fans by performing on both consecutive days, just before retirement." Jang added, "When everyone had given up, BU-ROCK's organizers did not. Thanks to the hard work of so many people, I'm heading home after enjoying the performances without any trouble."
