[Financial News] South Korean men's boxers Jang Dong-hwan and Kim Min-seong, both from Korea National Sport University, won silver medals at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Their performances helped Korean boxing win medals at two consecutive Asian Games.
Jang Dong-hwan lost 0-5 to Uzbekistan's Abdulmalik Khalokov on the judges' decision in the men's 60kg final held at Nishio Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on the afternoon of the 2nd. The five judges scored the bout 27-30, 27-30, 27-30, 28-29 and 27-30.
Jang Dong-hwan, who won a bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Boxing Championships for Under-23s (U-23) held in Jakarta, Indonesia, last July, continued his upward momentum by adding a silver medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
In the men's 80kg final that followed, Kim Min-seong added another silver medal. Facing India's Ankush, Kim lost 0-4 on a decision. One judge scored the bout a 28-28 draw, while the other four all scored it 26-30 in favor of his opponent.
After winning bronze medals at the Asian Boxing Championships in April and the second World Boxing Cup tournament in June, Kim Min-seong claimed silver this time.
Korean boxing has now won medals at two consecutive Asian Games, following Jeong Jae-min's bronze medal in the men's 92kg division at the preceding 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. However, the men's team has not won a gold medal since Asian Games Incheon 2014, when Shin Jonghun and Ham Sang-myeong reached the top of the podium.
