[Financial News] A story has emerged about a man in his 40s who works as a truck driver despite having lost his left wrist. He crashed into an expensive Ferrari while driving, but the other car's owner reportedly reassured him instead.
According to a post on the Jadongcha Mania bulletin board on Karrot Cafe on the 2nd, User A, who introduced himself as a 41-year-old truck driver, recently shared a post titled "I Crashed into a Ferrari." A. wrote, "I work as a truck driver, but I have a disability after losing my left wrist," adding, "Not long ago, I was driving when I got into a really serious accident, and of all cars, the one I hit was a Ferrari."
According to A., the Ferrari's owner was "a chairman well-known enough for anyone to recognize." Immediately after the accident, A. was so flustered that he clutched his head and could not say anything.
However, the car owner's reaction was unexpected. A. said, "The chairman looked at my left hand and instead said, 'It's okay,' while I kept repeating that I was sorry."
He continued, "Then the chairman said, 'I'll take care of this myself,' and patted me on the shoulder." A. said he still felt grateful after the accident and asked online users for advice, explaining that he wanted to send the chairman at least a small gift before Chuseok. He asked, "Would it be okay to send a gift in a situation like this, or would that only burden him or seem like I'm overdoing it?"
Responses encouraging A. to express his gratitude to the car owner continued to appear under the post. One user wrote, "Yes, you can send one. I recommend high-quality ingredients that he can enjoy with his family," while another commented, "That's so like a chairman." Someone else said, "Reporting him to a television program as a good person and publicizing his company so it can prosper would be worth more than a gift."
Some, however, said that given the extent of the damage, practical compensation was more important than a gift. Referring to the Ferrari's repair costs and the burden of insurance expenses, some users pointed out that the person who caused the accident should also take full responsibility. Others countered that A. had posted the story to express his gratitude for the car owner's consideration after the accident, criticizing the excessive backlash against him.
Another user who came across the story wrote, "The world is still worth living in," adding, "Stories like this should be shared." Others said that, given A.'s circumstances, a modest gesture of gratitude would be more appropriate than an excessively expensive gift.
