[Financial News] Kim Yo Jong, director of the WPK's General Affairs Department, acknowledged that North Korea is fortifying the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) between North and South Korea. She also said the work was intended to permanently sever ties between the two Koreas. The South Korean government has demanded that North Korea apologize for mine explosions at the MDL, but Pyongyang has expressed no regret.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on the 2nd, Kim said in a statement, "The enemy is still the enemy. Through Seoul's latest self-staged farce, we have once again reached a grave conclusion." She criticized the provisional findings by the South Korean military and the United Nations Command (UNC) as an extremely clumsy announcement. She also sneered at the South Korean military's demand for an apology, calling them "an utterly pathetic bunch."
Regarding the fortification work, Kim said, "To explain it simply and clearly, its purpose is to shut the door forever so that we will never have to face South Korea and so that not even wild animals can pass through." She said that even being conscious of the South Korean lot made her shudder.
She also called it the climax of a farce when President Lee Jae Myung mentioned easing tensions between North and South Korea at the Armed Forces Day ceremony.
Kim said, "The man who calls himself president appeared at what he called a commemorative ceremony and expressed his intention to consistently take practical measures to ease military tensions," adding, "It was truly the climactic scene of a farce, too good to enjoy alone." She said he seemed intent on creating chaos in the world and playing the role of a righteous protagonist.
She continued, "I do not know who the lead and supporting actors are, but in any case, I hope they gain great popularity through their performances in righteous roles," and sarcastically added, "Those who devoted themselves to writing, directing and acting in the farce should rightly be given lavish commendations."
