[Financial News] South Korean judo national team member Kim Jong Hoon of Yangpyeong County Office won a bronze medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. He secured the medal with an ippon victory by hold-down.
According to sports-industry sources, Kim Jong Hoon defeated Amir Abbas Choupan of Iran with a modified scarf hold in the men's 90kg bronze-medal bout at Aichi International Arena in Nagoya, Japan, on the 2nd.
About 40 seconds into the match, Kim attempted a surprise left-arm shoulder throw and was awarded a yuko.
When the Iranian athlete began to show signs of fatigue, Kim changed tactics. After taking Choupan down, he secured an ippon victory with a hold-down.
Kim had earlier reached the bronze-medal bout after conceding an ippon by uchi-mata to Japan's Riku OKADA in the semifinals.
