Kyung Hee University’s Local Content-Focused University Project Team will host “2026 Kyung Hee University Dadakdadak Town MICE” through the 14th around Haenggung Square and Suwon Workshop Street in Suwon. The event connects the university with local businesses through exhibitions by Korean and Japanese designers, a local branding forum, student pop-up stores and performances.
The event expands the “Dadakdadak Community,” held last year around Suwon Nammun Market and Haenggung-dong, into a Korean-Japanese exchange. It focuses on combining the area’s culture and businesses with the university’s educational and creative activities while broadening collaboration among local creators in Korea and abroad.
“Dadakdadak Market: Baeksanghoe,” featuring 100 Korean and Japanese designers, will showcase 100 posters that reinterpret local resources such as Suwon Nammun Market and Hwaseong Haenggung Palace. Creators from Japan’s LIVE DESIGN School and Kyushu Art Directors Club will also participate. The exhibition will be held at Hanamjiteo on Suwon Workshop Street through the 14th.
Products created by students in collaboration with local merchants will also be presented. Students from Kyung Hee University’s College of Art and Design, College of Foreign Languages, College of International Studies, College of Software Convergence and College of Engineering identified local challenges with merchants on Suwon Workshop Street and developed ideas in response. Twelve of those ideas were turned into actual products, which will be exhibited and sold at Gahoedang on Suwon Workshop Street.
“Town MICE is an experiment in which the creative ideas of universities and young people meet local resources and businesses to create new value, then reconnect with local communities in Korea and abroad and expand,” said Park Sang Hee, head of Kyung Hee University’s Local Content-Focused University Project Team. “Through collaboration with Korean and Japanese creators, we will build a sustainable model that connects the potential of local initiatives that began in Suwon to a glocal network.”
