[Financial News] Seoul Facilities Corporation will host its first screen park golf tournament at 14 screen park golf venues across Seoul and the greater Seoul area, including the one at Jonggak Underground Shopping Center. On the 2nd, the corporation announced that it will hold the 1st Seoul Araetgil Screen Park Golf Tournament from the 6th through November 8. The event is open not only to park golf club members but also to anyone interested in park golf.
The tournament will proceed through the qualifiers, main round and finals. The qualifiers, held from the 6th through the 26th, have no limit on the number of entries. During the main round, held from October 29 to November 2, participants will play 18 holes on two designated courses, with the top 12 advancing to the finals. Each participant may enter the main round up to twice per course.
The finals will take place on November 7 and 8 at Jonggak Park Golf Practice Center inside Jonggak Underground Shopping Center. Advance registration will also be available for the Family Game, in which three family members form a team, and the Kkanbu Game, in which two co-workers or friends compete together. On-site events, including longest-drive and hole-in-one prizes, will also be held during the tournament.
Jonggak Park Golf Practice Center, the venue for the finals, opened in April as part of Seoul's "10-minute wellness zone near home" policy. The screen park golf facility was built at Jonggak Underground Shopping Center so residents could exercise close to home. About 2,000 people had used it since its opening through last month.
Seoul Facilities Corporation is also linking the tournament to efforts to revitalize underground shopping centers. Participants who use Seoul Sarang Gift Certificates received as tournament prizes at Jonggak Underground Shopping Center or other underground shopping centers in Seoul within one week, and then verify their receipts, will receive a park golf ball. The offer is limited to the first 30 people.
Han Kook-young, chairman of Seoul Facilities Corporation, said, "I hope this tournament will encourage more citizens to visit underground shopping centers and enjoy shopping and events together." He added, "We will make use of the advantages of underground shopping centers, which can be used year-round, and prepare various programs, including performances and sports."
