【Hanoi, Vietnam—Correspondent Kim Jun-seok】GF, a company specializing in performance and cultural content, is making a full-scale entry into Vietnam's K-pop concert market by partnering with VEC, an affiliate of Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup.
GF announced on the 2nd that it had recently signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with VEC to build sustainable K-pop concert infrastructure and an ecosystem in Vietnam.
The agreement focuses not merely on holding one-off concerts but on combining Korea's outstanding planning and operational expertise with Vietnam's large-scale infrastructure and production capabilities. The goal is to establish a long-term and stable foundation for K-pop-related business.
Through its Vietnamese subsidiary, GF plans to oversee everything from recruiting artists to planning content, drawing on its experience operating various concerts and festivals in Korea and overseas.
VEC, the partner company, is an affiliate of Vingroup that operates a large-scale complex spanning 900,000 square meters in Hanoi's Dong Anh area. VEC holds the operating rights to Vietnam's largest PVF Stadium and VinFast Stadium, both scheduled to open next year, and is also developing a complex of the same scale in the Can Gio area of Ho Chi Minh City. VEC plans to develop the two hubs in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City simultaneously, transforming them into core infrastructure that will lead Vietnam's culture and entertainment industry.
GPL, a production company established locally by Koreans, is also participating in the project as a production partner. Drawing on its production experience in Korea's entertainment industry, GPL plans to deliver the same level of performance direction and quality in Vietnam as in Korea.
The project is expected to create an integrated collaboration system covering planning, production and operations by combining GF's business-planning capabilities, GPL's local production expertise and VEC's extensive infrastructure.
Ban Young-hwan, president of GF, said, "As interest in K-pop is growing in Vietnam, I believe we can create various opportunities in the local concert market. By adding a powerful partner like VEC to the experience our company and GPL have built in Korea's concert market, we will present differentiated K-pop content and grow into a trusted partner in Vietnam and global markets."
Meanwhile, GF plans to present a range of content, including K-pop concerts and large-scale festivals, in Vietnam together with VEC and GPL.
