KOSPI Composite Index Reclaims 7,000 Level After Lower Opening; KOSDAQ (Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) Slightly Lower [Financial News Market Close]

[Financial News] The KOSPI Composite Index rose for a second consecutive day, recovering the 7,000 level. Chemical and metal stocks led the gains, while mid-cap stocks posted particularly strong advances. KOSDAQ failed to extend its sharp rise from the previous day and closed slightly lower.
On the 2nd, the KOSPI Composite Index closed at 7,003.74, up 32.39 points, or 0.46%, from the previous trading day. It was the first time since the 23rd of last month that the index had closed above 7,000.
By sector, chemicals rose 3.32%, leading the gains. Metals advanced 1.75%, followed by telecommunications at 1.26%, textiles and apparel at 0.97%, insurance at 0.93%, transportation and warehousing at 0.91%, and transportation equipment and parts at 0.71%. By market capitalization, mid-cap stocks rose 0.91%, outperforming large-cap stocks, which gained 0.44%, and small-cap stocks, which rose 0.39%.
Among large-cap semiconductor stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 276,000 won, unchanged from the previous trading day. SK hynix rose 0.44% to close at 1,841,000 won.
KOSDAQ closed at 893.29, down 1.00 point, or 0.11%, from the previous trading day. After surging 4.48% the previous day, it edged lower on the 2nd.
Among KOSDAQ sectors, general services fell 2.19%, while construction rose 1.25% and manufacturing gained 0.09%. Although the index declined, 958 stocks advanced, outnumbering the 681 stocks that fell.
