According to the sports industry on the 2nd, the Korean pair of Kim Chang-ju and Lee Kyung-jin won a silver medal in the mixed dinghy yachting event held at Kaiyo Yacht Port in Gamagori, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on that day, recording a total of 20 points over 10 races.
Accordingly, the Korean yachting team won two medals, following Ha Jee-min's fourth career Asian Games gold medal in the single dinghy earlier in the morning competition.
In yachting, points are awarded based on ranking in multiple races, such as 1 point for first place and 2 points for second place, and then added up to determine the winner with the lowest total score.
The Kim Chang-ju and Lee Kyung-jin pair started in third place in the first and second races and crossed the finish line in first place in the third race.
Although they faltered in the fourth race, finishing in fifth place, they cleared the penalty points according to the rule that excludes the lowest ranking.
The Korean team, which alternated between second and third place in the remaining races, finished first in the final 10th race and rose to second place.
Traditional powerhouse Japan took first place with 15 penalty points, and China ranked third with 29 penalty points.
Meanwhile, this medal marks the second consecutive medal win for the Ji-Ah Kim and Cho Sung-min pair, following their bronze medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
