[Financial News] Kim Hyun-hwan, former First Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, has been appointed chairman of the Cultural Foundation of National Museum of Korea.
According to MCST on the 2nd, Minister Choi Hwi-young presented Kim with his letter of appointment that day at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, in Jongno-gu, Seoul. His three-year term began that day.
Chairman Kim built extensive experience in cultural administration while serving as Director General of the Tourism Policy Bureau, Director General of the Content Policy Bureau, Director General for Planning and Coordination, and First Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The foundation is a public institution established in 2004 to preserve, pass on, and utilize cultural heritage while promoting public access to culture. Its responsibilities include developing, producing, and distributing museum merchandise, as well as operating Theater Yong at the National Museum of Korea and museum amenities.
Planning, producing, and selling Muds, a museum merchandise brand, is another major project of the foundation. It helps turn the experience of viewing artifacts into the experience of owning related products.
Minister Choi stated, "We expect the new chairman to lead the development of museum cultural programs that meet the public's expectations, drawing on the expertise and capabilities he has built through his field experience."
