[Financial News] KMOU said on the 2nd that it had held a seminar jointly with the Seafarers Research Center and Maritime Cluster Networking in Korea (MacNet) to examine the current state of shipping and maritime officers and diagnose various issues concerning seafarers.
Held on the 29th of last month at the Busan Branch Office of the Korean Register, the seminar focused on various issues, particularly changes in the shipping, port, and logistics industry and the management of seafarers' mental health.
At the seminar, KMOU Professor Shin Young-ran presented on "Strategic Inflection Points in the Shipping, Port, and Logistics Industry," while KMOU Professor Lee Sang-il spoke on "Issues in Seafarer Mental Health Management."
Kim Kyung-hoon, a director at the Korea Shipowners' Association, and Park Kyung-ok, a port chaplain at the Anglican Flying Angel Seafarers Center, then joined the panel discussion.
The presentations and panel discussion were followed by a question-and-answer session and a plenary discussion, during which participants shared a range of views on the presentations.
A representative of the Seafarers Research Center said, "We hope this seminar will provide a meaningful opportunity to take a broad look at the major challenges facing the shipping and seafarer sectors and for academia and industry to work together to explore a path toward sustainable development."
