[Financial News] Shinhan Asset Management is introducing an exchange-traded fund (ETF) that allows investors to invest in Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, Micron, other global memory and storage companies, and semiconductor equipment makers all at once. As a Korea-listed product, it also enables investors to access the global memory industry through tax-advantaged accounts, including pension accounts.
Shinhan Asset Management announced on the 2nd that it will newly list the 'SOL Global DRAM Semiconductor Plus ETF' on the KOSPI market on the 7th.
The product invests in 10 stocks, including the three leading global DRAM companies—Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, and Micron—as well as memory and storage companies and semiconductor equipment makers. It is an expanded version of the investment strategy used by the existing 'SOL AI Semiconductor TOP2 Plus ETF,' extended to global markets.
Approximately 90% of the portfolio is invested in the 'memory seven': Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, Micron, SanDisk, KIOXIA, Seagate, and Western Digital. The portfolio covers the broader memory and storage industry needed for AI infrastructure, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and conventional DRAM, as well as NAND flash, solid-state drives (SSDs), and hard disk drives (HDDs).
The remaining approximately 10% is allocated to global semiconductor equipment makers such as Applied Materials, Lam Research, and KLA. This structure is designed to capture not only improving earnings at memory companies but also demand for capital expenditure driven by capacity expansion and process miniaturization.
Expectations for the memory market outlook have also continued to grow. Micron's earnings, announced on the 1st, exceeded market expectations, and the company expressed optimism about future growth based on increased demand for HBM and memory and storage products for data centers.
Kim Jeong-hyun, head of Shinhan Asset Management's ETF Business Group, said, "Micron's strong earnings are an example of how growth in the memory industry in the AI era is translating into actual corporate earnings." He added, "Through the SOL Global DRAM Semiconductor Plus ETF, we have expanded the investment scope centered on Samsung Electronics and SK hynix to include overseas memory companies and global equipment makers."
He continued, "Considering the structural growth in memory demand and improved earnings visibility, the medium- to long-term investment case for leading global DRAM companies remains valid." He added, "This product can be used by investors seeking to participate in the growth of the global memory industry and related capital investment through pension accounts."
To mark the new listing, Shinhan Asset Management will release the "SOL Semiconductor Investment Guidebook" on the 2nd and hold a YouTube live seminar on the topic of "The Global Memory Semiconductor Industry: Current Status and Investment Strategies."
