【Financial News, Incheon = Han Gap-su, Reporter】 Incheon Metropolitan City Government is launching a public contest for citizen proposals to incorporate the difficulties people face in the job market and their ideas into its policies.
Incheon Metropolitan City Government announced on the 2nd that it will hold the “The Incheon Jobs I Create” public contest for citizen proposals throughout October as it prepares a comprehensive employment plan for the ninth popularly elected administration.
The contest was organized to move beyond the conventional approach in which administrative agencies formulate policies and provide them to citizens. It aims to reflect in employment policies the difficulties citizens actually experience while seeking or holding jobs, along with their proposed solutions.
The contest covers all aspects of Incheon Metropolitan City Government’s employment policies. Key areas include △improving access to employment, recruitment, and job information; △tailored support for groups such as young people, middle-aged and older adults, and women; △support for employment retention among current workers, job changes, and occupational transitions; △addressing labor shortages and improving employment conditions in key regional industries and small and medium-sized manufacturing companies; and △employment policies responding to future industrial changes, including AI and digital transformation.
Anyone interested in Incheon Metropolitan City Government’s employment policies may participate. Participants can submit specific complaints and ideas for improvement through a PC or mobile webpage.
The city plans to evaluate the proposals based on policy necessity, feasibility, and expected effects before selecting five outstanding proposals. Each selected proposer will receive a mobile gift certificate worth KRW 100,000, while 100 randomly selected participants will receive mobile beverage coupons.
In particular, the city plans to actively adopt ideas whose effectiveness has been verified as new employment programs in the future and reflect them in its policies.
Kim Jun-seong, director of the city's Economic Bureau, said, "We ask for your keen interest and participation so that we can work together to create Incheon-style employment policies that citizens can experience firsthand and support."
