[Financial News] South Korea's national sepaktakraw team failed to reach the semifinals in the men's quad (four-person) event at the 2026 Asian Games.
According to sports industry sources on the 2nd, South Korea lost to Japan 0–2 in sets (8–15, 12–15) in the third Group B preliminary match of the men's quad sepaktakraw event at Mizuho Park Gymnasium in Nagoya, Japan.
South Korea's team consisted of strikers Jeong Haseong of Cheongju City Hall and Seonwoo Yeongsu of the Gangwon Sports Council, feeder Jeong Wondeok of Cheongju City Hall, and tekong Lee Ujin of Cheongju City Hall. The feeder distributes the ball to the striker, while the tekong is responsible for serving.
South Korea had previously lost 0–2 to Indonesia on the 30th of last month and defeated Singapore 2–0. However, the loss left the team with a 1–2 record, placing it third in the group behind Indonesia and Japan and eliminating its chance to advance to the semifinals. With South Korea failing to reach the semifinals in the men's quad, the country's sepaktakraw campaign at the Games ended with one silver medal and one bronze medal. Six gold medals were at stake in sepaktakraw at these Games.
The eight participating nations were divided into two groups of four for group-stage play. The top two teams from each group advanced to the semifinals, where they competed for a place in the final through a crossover tournament. No bronze-medal match was held; both teams that lost in the semifinals were awarded bronze medals.
The quad event has been part of the Asian Games since the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang. This was South Korea's first appearance in the men's quad.
