The KTO said on the 2nd that more than 1,800 Japanese tourists will visit Korea throughout October through autumn travel packages featuring traditional fireworks in Andong and Haman County.
In Andong, packages featuring Hahoe Seonyu Julbulnori will be offered five times through the end of this month. The package was jointly planned by the KTO's Japan office and the Japan Association of Travel Agents, and about 300 Japanese tourists are expected to visit Andong.
Hahoe Seonyu Julbulnori is a traditional fireworks event that drew attention when the leaders of the two countries watched it together during a Korea-Japan summit held in Andong last May. The KTO launched related travel packages following the event and also set up a designated viewing area for Japanese tourists visiting Hahoe Folk Village.
Meanwhile, about 1,500 Japanese tourists will attend Haman Nakhwa Nori Special Day, which will be held on the 15th at Mujinjeong Pavilion in Haman County. The event has expanded again this year, following attendance of 500 in 2024 and 1,000 last year.
The packages include visits to the Ancient Tombs in Marisan Mountain, Haman, and a museum, as well as opportunities to sample local dishes such as ox-head soup with rice and lotus-leaf rice. A premium package valued at 3.2 million won, featuring Nakhwa Nori along with tours of Jeonju, Daegu, and Busan, is also available.
Jeong Seok-in, head of the KTO's International Tourism Division, said, "Japan is a market with a high rate of repeat visitors, so it is effective to turn content built around each region's unique themes into travel products. We will continue developing products that can encourage Japanese tourists to visit more regions and stay longer in local areas."
