Constitutional Court President Kim Sang-hwan Attends AACC General Assembly, Presents on 'Constitutional Court Responses in the AI Era'

[Financial News] Kim Sang-hwan, President of the Constitutional Court of Korea, attended the seventh General Assembly and Board meeting of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, where he shared the Constitutional Court's experience in responding to the AI era.
The Constitutional Court of Korea said on the 2nd that President Kim presented at the AACC's seventh General Assembly, held the previous day, on 'The Constitutional Court of Korea's Response to the AI Era.'
The assembly was held under the theme 'Constitutional Adjudication in the Age of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.' Key topics included the scope and legal limits of using AI in constitutional adjudication, human rights and the rule of law in the digital environment, fairness and personal data protection, and procedural safeguards in the use of AI. The event was attended by officials from constitutional courts and supreme courts in more than 20 countries, representatives of international organizations, and legal scholars.
President Kim met with the president of Uzbekistan's Constitutional Court and other heads of constitutional adjudication institutions across Asia to discuss ways to promote exchanges and cooperation among the institutions. The AACC Board reviewed key agenda items at a meeting held before the assembly.
Son In-hyeok, Secretary-General of the Constitutional Court of Korea, also attended the Board meeting and introduced the current status and key achievements of the AACC Research Secretariat, which is operated by the Constitutional Court of Korea.
The AACC is a consultative body established to share experience and information among constitutional courts and equivalent institutions in Asia and to promote the development of constitutional adjudication and cooperation. Discussions at the seventh General Assembly focused on the impact of digital transformation and AI on constitutional adjudication.
